"Khao, pio, jiyo."
Eat, drink, live.
Masala Box is on Bell Boulevard in Bayside, Queens. We named it after the masala dabba — the round steel spice tin every Indian household keeps on the counter. The idea was to cook food that feels like that: familiar, precise, made with intention.
We cook fresh, we balance our spices, and we don't assume everyone wants the same heat level. Pull up a chair. This is our kitchen — tonight it's yours.
"The lamb biryani alone is worth the trip from Manhattan. The seal on the pot comes off at the table — the aroma is enough to make you emotional. Best Indian food in New York, full stop."
"I don't eat Indian food often but my colleagues insisted. Chef Sumita came out to greet us personally, explained the spice blend in our dishes. That level of care shows up in every single bite."
"The Chai Crème Brûlée might be the most creative dessert I've had in years. The kind of dish that makes you rethink what a cuisine can be. Already booked our next visit."
